Roots and Septic Systems

A customer called us for a septic cleaning to keep up on regular maintenance. When we arrived we located the tank and began our work. Once we opened the lids we noticed a group of roots making their way into the inlet baffle and inlet pipe. Luckily for this customer we caught them before they became an issue.

Roots can be very intrusive, and can cause a lot of issues for a septic system. Whether its stopping up an inlet pipe causing clogs and backups into the house or clogging the pipes going to the drain field, keeping roots away from your septic system is just one way to ensure the system has a long life.

By planting trees and other plants far away from your septic system, you can help keep those intrusive roots from causing problems later on. Make sure to keep up with regular maintenance so these small issues don’t turn into major problems.
